About the event
In this workshop we will each craft a film roman, or film novel, taking the seed of your idea into completion and presentation before your ideal audience. With this technique, creating a movie from still images and full sound, you will be able to create a visionary work of maximal impact, using minimal resources. Here is your opportunity to create high fantasy, world-spanning sci-fi, or rich magic realism in a short film--something that feels epic--with just your creative talents, minimal cost, and those of the few you elect to assist you. Guided by film professional and Art Midwife, Seth Paradox, this workshop will provide you with everything you require to create a work that shines. As part of the process, we will, from the very get-go, target the ideal festival for you to submit your work to: one that will have an audience that will get and appreciate your work. In three workshop days, spread out over a two-month period, you will develop your idea via a viable production plan, will figure out and implement your tailored special effects and editing, and you will finalize your film with a plan of where and how to screen for audiences. Part 1: August 8 Part 2: August 29 Part 3: Sept 12
